Garage Denim is the dynamic opposite to Dirt Denim, it is raw, it is smooth, and where Dirt Denim has a rough surface but is light and soft in motion, Garage Denim is flat and hard. The denim is woven at extremely low tension on old power looms by craftsmen with years of experience in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
The name comes from the classic interpretation of the work wear jeans worn by motor mechanics in the 1950’s, this is denim made for the greaser in you.
The jean is a modern interpretation of the classic straight cut, with a very slight taper to give the perfect balance between work wear and social wear. They feature two colour selvedge, a Union Special chain stitched hem, slash pockets and they are the only model to feature a genuine Talon zipper.
Due to the raw, untreated nature of the denim please expect 1 – 2 cm of shrinkage in all dimensions.
Getting the wrong fit is upsetting, we know from long experience, please do double check against our HOW WE MEASURE guide, and the measurements table. We recommend you measure against an existing pair of jeans that you like the fit of, and then choose accordingly (but bear in mind that the measurements are in the raw state). If you have any doubt about size PLEASE email us, we are so familiar with getting the right fit.
This is a raw denim jean, please expect shrinkage commensurate with the nature of the fabric (see above). We recommend an initial cold soak to settle the stitching and to ascertain optimum fit.
PLEASE NOTE: The listed measurements for this jean are pre-soak.
